Launch: Child-Focused City Digital Platform and Exhibition

As part of the Suna’nın Kızları Research Support Circle, TESEV took part in the content development and physical design processes together with Suna’nın Kızları and Needs Map for the Çocuk Odaklı Şehir (The Child-Focused City) digital platform (cocukodaklisehir.org). The platform includes maps and public service inventories prepared for Istanbul in general and Fatih and Sultanbeyli districts, as well as supporting resources, data sets used on the website, and the Child-Focused City- Analysis/Mapping Process and Case Studies Report written by TESEV Research Coordinator Bürge Elvan Erginli and TESEV Project Coordinator Çağla Ayaz. The platform which aims to support data-based decision-making and strategy development by civil society organizations, public institutions, local governments and all other relevant stakeholders working to ensure that children, especially girls, have access to services that support their holistic development, especially education`was launched with an opening exhibition held at the Istanbul Research Institute.
The Child-Focused City: A Quest for Equality exhibition, realized by Suna’nın Kızları Research Support Circle and Istanbul Research Institute, draws attention to the importance of data-based development of education and other urban service policies for children. Accompanying the case examples and prominent data created through the digital platform, photo narratives reflecting the girls’ own neighborhood experiences, Bekir Dindar’s photographs observing children in urban space, and images from the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Photography Collection, the exhibition can be visited at the Istanbul Research Institute until May 04, 2025.
