Assisting Local Authorities and CSOs with Urban Evidence on Gender Inequalities

“Assisting Local Authorities and Women CSOs with Urban Evidence on Gender Inequalities” Project, carried out with the support of the Consulate General of Sweden in İstanbul, aims at empowering local authorities (mainly municipalities, local offices of Ministries and muhtars) and women civil society organizations (CSOs) by offering them accessible data on various gender inequalities in neighborhood level to facilitate their informed participation and advocacy. The project is implemented in İstanbul.

Assisting local governments and women CSO’s for gender equal city requires first of all to be informed about spaces, attributes and kinds of inequalities. Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to collect data on neighborhood level which are indicators of gender inequality in the city; to visualize gender inequlities of İstanbul on an interactive interface with analysis and mapping of collected data. According to the distribution and spatial profiles of these indicators, it will be ensured that local authorities and women CSO’s work together on problems and solutions. Thus, local administrations and women CSO’s will be assisted for a gender equal city.
