Skills for the Future through the Lens of Gender Equality

This policy brief addresses the future skills debate in Turkey from a gender equality perspective and offers recommendations to improve the situation. In an era of multiple crises, it is increasingly difficult to envision the future and future skills, and this places a significant burden on education systems. In the context of future skills, gender equality issues in Turkey are not so much related to girls’ acquisition of these skills, but rather to their low post-graduation labor force participation rates despite their skills. Ensuring gender equality in education can play a critical role in addressing these challenges. Against this backdrop, this brief provides a roadmap for the Turkish education system to strengthen gender equality in education based on the findings of PISA 2022.
