Equal Public Spaces – Urban Walks in Maltepe (Adalet Square & Beşçeşmeler Square) 1

The first urban walk within the Equal Public Spaces Project which is carried out by TESEV in a collaboration with Kallipolis and Maltepe Municipality, as a part of THE:PLACE programme supported by Stiftung Mercator, managed by ALDA and MAD was organized in 2 squares of Maltepe (Adalet Square and Beşçeşmeler Square). Representatives from the project partners, NGOs that work in Maltepe, Maltepe Municipality, Maltepe City Council and Maltepe University participated in this event. The participants analysed two squares from their own perspectives with a questionnaire that helps to observe certain parameters set for making public spaces more inclusive and gender equal, and shared their experiences. The next urban walk in Maltepe is going to take place in the evening since the experience in public spaces might differ depending on the time of day.
